Black and White

In January 2019 the Governor of New York signed a new law that allowed so-called ‘after-birth abortions.’ It means that when a baby is born alive after an attempted abortion it will be allowed to die untreated – even if it is viable. Under the old law such a case could have been prosecuted as homicide since a felony can be committed by omission as well. So this new law permits the killing of a baby after an unsuccessful abortion in the State of New York.

One year later in January 2020 the Governor of California declared that he wanted his state to become a “no-kill state” in regard to animal euthanasia. To empower this policy he proposed a $50 million transfer of general funds to animal shelters.

Both, the governor of New York and the governor of California, are representatives of the same political party which governs these respective states and which is in the end responsible for such a policy that in certain cases wants to prohibit the killing of animals and at the same time makes the killing of innocent mankind permissible. The thinking that promotes these policies is the opposite of the standard set by the Creator for his creation. For such a twist the message of the prophet Isaiah is still applicable today: “Doom to those who call evil good and good evil, who say black is white and white is black, who make bitterness sweet and sweetness bitter.” Isaiah 5:20
