My Way

Many singers - from Frank Sinatra to Elvis Presley to the Gypsy Kings - have covered the song "My Way." The song circles around the topic that the author lived his life differently than others, yet he succeeded with his approach to life. From a Christian perspective the song has a bit too much boasting in one's own plans and doings since we know that it is only by God's grace that we stand. But the idea of living a unique life, one that is different form the lives of others, comes very close to the idea that God has a masterplan for our lives.

God designed us to life lives that are unique. But all too often people are searching for security and success apart from God. True fulfillment can only be found in the midst of God's will for our lives. But when God's will becomes my will and His way becomes my way one has reason enough to join in the chorus of this song: "I did it my way."

God is the Creator of mankind and has good plans for our lives. He helps us to discover our own, unique way of life. Seeing the song from this background -  a redeemed version of it so to say - brings it to it's truest meaning.
