Peace

Man is a spiritual being. God, the creator of mankind, is a spiritual being as well. And our spirits come alive when we are connected to our creator. But without this connection our spirits die; we are not at peace. There is a longing inside each human being to be at this place of peace where our spirits come to rest: Many use the term R.I.P. - that is, rest in peace - when they mention deceased people. People realize that here on earth with all of life's struggles, fighting, striving and challenges we lose our inner peace. So, there is this idea that there must be a place where our spirits come to rest in the afterlife.

I think, when you have not experienced inner peace in this life, you won't experience it in the afterlife either. Peace comes through knowing that I'm forgiven, that my connection with God the Father is restored. At certain times this peace can be experienced in a unique way: Sometimes after a prayer meeting with other believers God's peace is very tangible. One goes home with a great inner peace. I believe this is the standard God has designed for us. But even believers are getting robbed of this peace all too often, and then we try to address the unrest with all kinds of soulish desires. This never comes close to the peace we find in God, in His presence.
