Popstars

Popstars come to fame because they are doing something (mostly singing or acting) very popular – something that everybody likes. So far so good. The problem starts when popstars use their fame to influence politics or moral debates. By doing so they usually do the same thing that brought them fame as popstars: They are saying popular things. Things that everybody likes to hear. Unfortunately truth is seldom met this way. Truth is something that most people don’t like to hear. One does not become popular by telling the truth. Therefore you’ll find popstars in moral and political questions too often on the side of people pleasers. Not on the side of those who are saying something uncomfortable to the majority of people. Not on the side of truth.
